Introduction: Max

Greetings,

I've been putting off my introduction post for awhile now, I figured it was time to start. I'll try to keep it short and simple, as I will do with most of my future posts.

My name is Max. I am a 20 year old student at North Carolina State University. I've moved around quite a bit. I am currently taking a class about Buddhism.

I play ice hockey, listen to hardcore, punk, and metal music, and meditate. I'm straight edge. I've been interested in Buddhism and eastern thought since I can remember.

Shameless plug: you can check out my personal blog here, if you are interested.

Thanks to Ray for allowing me to contribute.

Funny... just last week I was chatting with a coworker and he corrected my impression that straight edge was a Christian movement. For some reason that's what I always thought.

Anyway, welcome, looking forward to reading your posts.

Many Christians that are into hardcore tend to align themselves with straight edge simple because the two sets of ideals overlap on a few issues. For example, straight edge is huge in Salt Lake City, and I'm willing to bet a large percent of them are Mormons. However, there are just as many god free people into straight edge than there are Christians.
